Spatio-temporal Soil Erosion Estimation in Sangareddy District, Telangana Using Rusle Model

چکیده
Soil erosion poses a significant environmental challenge worldwide, causing the depletion of fertile topsoil, reduced crop productivity, and heightened sedimentation in water bodies. The extent depends on factors such as rainfall intensity, land slope, soil type, use, management practices. Accurate assessment loss, considering spatial, temporal, climate change factors, is vital for effective conservation planning. In this study, spatial model estimating loss was developed by integrating GIS with Revised Universal Loss Equation (RUSLE), validation showed satisfactory results (R2=0.82). estimation revealed that most area experienced below 5 t ha-1 yr-1, only smaller portion showing exceeding 20 yr-1. To address this, in-situ measures are recommended, using erosion-resistant crops (e.g., groundnut) strip cropping, adopting rotations, mulching, planting grasses bund stabilization. Practices like deep ploughing, summer mixed cropping should also be adopted sustainable watershed management. Construction structures farm ponds percolation tanks highly recommended. study observed temporal variations Sangareddy district, highest 134 ha−1 yr−1 occurring 2020, lowest 71 2018. These findings underscore need continuous monitoring adaptive strategies to mitigate ensure use practices region.

متن کاملModeling Soil Erosion Using Rusle and Gis Tools
Soil erosion involves detachment and transport of soil particles from top soil layers, degrading soil quality and reducing the productivity of affected lands. Soil eroded from the upland catchment causes depletion of fertile agricultural land and the resulting sediment deposited at the river networks creates river morphological change and reservoir sedimentation problems. However, land managers...
